7 Best Ways to Get Yourself & Your Skin Summer Ready
Summer is already here! So it is time to also get your skin summer ready. The main goal is to have your skin looking its best and to prevent any skin damage by being aware, diligent and using the right products. With warmer weather comes shorts, bikinis and all things summer. But if you struggle with blemishes on your legs, blotchy skin etc. -You know how hard it can be to feel self conscious of how you look in shorts, bikini bottoms etc. Even if you have a consistent workout routine and have done all you can to get your body looking its best for summer, there are still a few things you can do in order to be on top of your game come bikini and shorts season.
I came up with a list of 7 ways you can get your skin looking its best this summer
1. Exfoliate!
To avoid dull looking skin, make sure that you use a gentle exfoliator such as sea salt mixed with jojoba oil in order to slough off any dead skin. You can make your very own chemical-free
exfoliating scrubs. Just make sure to use salt instead of sugar as its less abrasive and the crystals are rounded instead of square with less risk of injuring your skin.
Do this for at least 1x a week and 2x a week on areas of your skin such as knees and feet where the skin is a bit thicker/tougher.
2. Use a Body Brush/ Exfoliating Body Gloves
Again exfoliating is key and using an exfoliating body brush / body exfoliating glove will ensure that your skin is exfoliated top to bottom. If you want touchable, soft skin make sure to do this 2x a week.
3. Use a Salicylic Acid Based Body Wash
Summer means humidity and humidity means sweat and perspiration all over your body. Make sure that you use a salicylic acid based body wash in order to avoid any breakouts on your back, chest and body since sweating can result in clogged pores and zits on your body!
4. Body Spray
Carry a small bottle of body spray in order to freshen up anytime you feel sweaty or icky from the heat and humidity. Choose scents that are light, fresh and airy and avoid any musky heavy scented perfumes since the heat and humid temperatures can chemically alter musky perfumes, thus making them even stronger and even slightly changing the way they smell.
5. Cover Up Vericrose Veins, Blotchy Skin and Blemishes on Legs
If you struggle with vericrose veins, blotchy uneven skin and other blemishes on your legs, give the Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs Spray a try. It isn't exactly a full coverage product and it will not completely cover up all your blemishes, however, it will make the blemishes you have on your legs less severe. If you are looking for a full coverage product, you might want to have a look at body makeup such as dermablend products.
6. Use Sunscreen
Your skin will thank you later if you use sunscreen diligently throughout your life. Remember your skin will age much faster when exposed to UV rays for prolonged periods of time; -This is the one of the reason why sun worshipers tend to look much older than their non-sun worshiping friends. Make sure you are using SPF 30+ and if you go swimming, always reapply your sunscreen. If you don't know what brand to use, I suggest my favorite, EltaMd, you can find it here.
7. Moisurize your skin
Yes, it is summertime and its hot and humid outside and you don't want to put anything on your face but cold water. - However, it is still very important to moisturize your skin with high quality skincare moisturizers. If you suffer from hyperpigmentation, you can also incorporate Vitamin C serum in order to fade any dark marks on skin.
Lastly, remember to enjoy your summers and make sure to eat healthy while taking care of the largest organ ( pssst...your skin! ).
